Marvellous Mushrooms

September is a good month for the most treasured of Italian occupations, which is so popular it’s almost a national sport; foraging for mushrooms. There is no activity, other than football, that brings the same glimmer of excitement to an Italian’s eye. Conversations concerning funghi provoke a stream of reminiscences of the best fungo, the best place to hunt for them (usually they’re very secretive about giving away information and will only tease you with tit bits) and of course the most delicious way to cook them.

We’re a few weeks into our Veneto Wine Festival and the wine is flowing – just how we like it. Before we get too heady on the fine stuff, we thought we should tell you about our fantastic producers. We can’t take all the credit after all (although wine expert Mike might think differently!) and there are a few names that deserve a mention.
