Marvellous Mushrooms

Blog

After a good soak of rain and a couple of days of sunshine (the perfect conditions for funghi to flourish), the whole of the Italian countryside is teeming with funghi hunters. You can easily identify them by their twig baskets and stout sticks. Dependent on the year’s weather conditions, hunters will return with full baskets or woeful faces and empty arms. Naturally this only adds to the excitement of the hunt and makes funghi that extra bit special and sought after. In many ways hunting mushrooms is like hunting treasure. It comes with its dangers (the poisonous ones!) and hunters need to be knowledgeable and well informed but when you get to the end of the trail and discover a good one, the bounty is well worth it!

At Carluccio’s we want to bring the wonder of mushrooms to you. We’re well aware that the average person doesn’t have the in-depth knowledge required or time for mushroom hunting and as Antonio always tells us it’s better to be safe than sorry, which is why want to bring them to you. We’ll be throwing a number of mushroom evenings and mushroom markets to re-create the magic of mushrooms, so come and celebrate with us as we get MAD FOR MUSHROOMS.
