If you are a fan of ‘teensoaps’ you’ll be aware of Chester as the backdrop to Hollyoaks; but Chester’s history stretches way beyond the creation of the ficticious suburb.

Over 2,000 years ago the Romans invaders built Dewa Victrix, a huge Roman Legionary Fortress & Settlement, and today Chester’s town walls, with the exception of about 300m are pretty much intact.

The City is situated close to the English-Welsh border, so close in fact that Chester City Football Club’s stadium straddles it!

Chester, is twinned with towns in France, Germany America and a town in Marche region of Italy called Senigallia.
