It was in Piemonte, at the age of seven that Antonio started his lifelong pastime of hunting and collecting mushrooms with his father. He said ‘I remember so vividly as a child in Italy, my pride and sense of achievement at returning home with a basketful of mushrooms’ (A Passion for Mushrooms, 1995). And it was a pride he took with him throughout his life; combing the woods in Austria, Germany and later Britain with his trusty mushroom finding friend; his faithful dog Jan.

Every autumn we celebrate Antonio’s love and passion for the humble mushroom! From delicious mushroom inspired specials, to authentic mushroom goodies in our deli, and pop-up mushroom markets across the country, find out all the ways we’re celebrating and how you can get involved!


Mushroom Specials

This year we have created a collection of indulgent specials inspired by ‘the quiet hunt’ Antonio’s favourite pastime of foraging for fungi, and as always, his philosophy of MOF MOF; minimum of fuss and maximum of flavour.

Mushroom Markets

Mushrooms and truffles are part of Carluccio’s DNA. Our founder, Antonio, was known as the Mushroom Man – foraging for, cooking with and writing about fungi for over 60 years.
