Description

Pasta e Sapori is a classic Carluccios hamper and a much loved favourite. Delivered in a beautiful box and filled with 3 classic sauces and 3 matching pasta.

Bucatini is a thick spaghetti-like pasta with a hole running through the centre. The name comes from buco, meaning “hole” in Italian.

Originally from Naples, it is now  one of the most typical and loved pasta shapes of Rome, where they are typically used with simple but very tasty and with work wonderfully with Sugo alle vongole is made with clams, Italian tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, herbs and a few anchovies to heighten the fish flavour.

Spaghetti alle Vongole is one of the most traditional Neapolitan dishes and can be made either Bianco (olive oil, garlic, parsley and clams) or Rosso, (with tomatoes added to the other ingredients, like ours).

Use thinned with a little pasta water. Don’t serve with cheese,  offer a splash of olive oil

Penne in all sizes are a very traditional shape, these penne are “regine” –  queen size. This pasta is used in Carluccio’s Penne Giardiniera with courgettes and spinach balls – one of Antonio’s heritage dishes. 

It is great for sauces with finely minced meat, or vegetables that can be trapped in the deep grooves, or in the middle of each tube. Also perfect for pasta bakes.

Cinghale Our slow cooked Ragu is made with Italian tomatoes, wild boar meat and herbs, reduced with Barbera wine from Piemonte. 

It is very rich and dense, and a small quantity adds a lot of flavour to any dish it is used in.

Trofie are a short twisted traditionally fresh pasta from Liguria and were apparently invented in the town  of Recco near Genova.

It is still commonly made by hand in many household in Liguria and the name comes from the Genovese word for “rubbing”, the action needed to make them by hand.

Pesto alla Genovese This sauce is a speciality  from Liguria and is made with PDO Ligurian young basil leaves and Parmigiano Reggiano.

It should not be cooked and is traditionally stirred through cooked pasta and served with freshly grated parmesan
