Action Against Hunger

Carluccio’s is a long-standing supporter of Action Against Hunger, through The Antonio Carluccio Foundation. Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organisation that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger, saves the lives of malnourished children and ensures that communities can access clean water, food, training and healthcare through its programmes in 47 countries around the world.

Inspired by the charity’s amazing work, Carluccio’s have now raised an incredible £2,000,000 through donating 50p from each sale of our best-selling Penne Giardiniera. This dish was created by our founder, Antonio Carluccio, in the early days of the restaurant’s history and we are proud that his legacy lives on, helping to raise funds for Action Against Hunger’s life-saving work. Funds have also been raised through the enthusiasm of Carluccio’s staff who have run marathons and cycled the length of the UK to support the charity.

Mali

Funds raised by Carluccio’s through The Antonio Carluccio Foundation are currently supporting an Action Against Hunger nutrition project in Mali, West Africa, where high acute malnutrition rates are cutting short thousands of young lives every year. Because over 75% of the population live in rural areas, many have to travel long distances to reach the nearest health centre, which means that malnourished children are unable to access the treatment they desperately need. Action Against Hunger is working in Mali to increase the number of children treated for malnutrition by training Community Health Workers to identify children at risk and referring them for appropriate treatment. This is revolutionising the way malnourished children are diagnosed and treated so that they are able to grow up strong and healthy.

Carluccio’s has also supported Action Against Hunger projects in Liberia, Zambia, Guinea, Burkina Faso and Senegal providing children and their families with happier, healthier futures.
