Davide Barbero Limoncelli with Sorrento Limoncello and Dark Chocolate

Bright citrus and rich dark chocolate make an irresistible pairing in these classic Limoncelli from Davide Barbero.

A shell of dark chocolate surrounds a smooth cream flavoured with Sorrento Limoncello, bringing together bittersweet cocoa and the fresh, aromatic character of Italian lemon liqueur. Davide Barbero specifically makes its Limoncelli with Sorrento Limoncello cream, giving the centre a distinctly southern Italian citrus note.

Made in Asti, they bring a little north-meets-south Italy to the chocolate box: Piemontese confectionery craftsmanship wrapped around one of Campania’s most famous flavours.

Presented in Davide Barbero’s distinctive metal tin, they make an elegant gift with a wonderfully nostalgic feel — although the combination of dark chocolate and Limoncello makes opening the tin considerably easier than putting the lid back on.

Serve after dinner, perhaps with a chilled Limoncello, or simply enjoy one when something rich, citrusy and distinctly Italian is called for.

Authentic Italian Sweets

Barbero has a long history with Carluccio's. In fact it was by chance that Antonio was having coffee in a Caffe in Alba, that the owner presented a slice of local Torronfette (a brittle, crunchy nougat) with his espresso. Impressed by the quality, Antonio immediately went about meeting the owner and from there the relationship was born.

Piemonte

Piemonte (or Piedmont) is the second largest region of Italy, found in the north west of the country. Its largest city and the original capital of Italy is Turin, the bustling business and culture hub of northern Italy. Turin is filled with a mixture of 16th and 18th century renaissance, baroque and neo classical architecture. More up-to-date, it is also home to Juventus FC, one of Italy’s best football teams.

Moving away from the cities, Piedmont is known for its connection to the Alps. Almost half of the region is covered by mountains, making it one of Italy’s top skiing destinations. The geography of the region generates great agricultural farm land and it is best known for its grapes and wine production. Barolo and Barbaresco red wines are made from the Nebbiolo grape, and the sparkling Asti Spumante comes from the Moscato grape.

Besides wine, the region also produces a vast amount of Italian risotto rice. Arborio, Carnaroli and 11 other varieties of rice are grown in paddy fields, irrigated by river water.
