Description

Christmas Sweets: Candied and glazed lemon peel coated in dark chocolate

Made with locally grown Calabrian Lemons. The peel is candied & glazed, keeping its natural, slightly crescent shape, and thickly covered in a 60% cocoa dark chocolate.

Our producer uses only selected local oranges and lemons from small farms to craft the their Lunette, using simply sugar and glucose syrup in the candying process which lasts 15 days.

Italian Confectionary Made In The Traditional Way

The producer of all our candied fruit confections were only founded in 1998, but is based on a family tradition working fruit and particularly local figs for of over 50 years as handed down through generations. They base production on the high quality of the fruit, which is constantly checked during processing and directly monitored in the orchards. They drying and packaging process is also managed stringently to ensure true Calabrian confectionary traditions are upheld

The company is in the stewardship of two brothers, Antonio & Franco, who decided that the recipes passed down from their Grandparents were just too good to keep to themselves and set out to share these Calabrian delicacies with the wider world.

Calabria

Known as the ‘toe’ of the ‘boot’ of the country, Calabria is the most southern region of mainland Italy. Its unusual mix of Mediterranean coastline and mountainous environments means it has high temperatures in the summer and low temperatures in the winter. Coupled with great hillside settings it creates the perfect climate for growing olives.

The summery heat allows for very hot chillies to grow, contributing to the most famous product of the region, nduja. This is a spicy chilli and pork fat spread which is usually smeared over toasted Italian bread.

No longer associated with the old influences of the Mafiosa, Calabria has been become an authentic, vibrant and bustling region of Italy.
