This is part of our Carluccio's Christmas Range Collection.
Combining sweet Amarena cherries, almonds and honey with rich cocoa and a gentle warmth of chilli.
Dense and satisfyingly chewy, the cherries bring a deep, slightly tart fruitiness that cuts beautifully through the cocoa, while the chilli builds softly in the background rather than overpowering the other flavours. Rich, dark and just a little unexpected.
Panforte has been made in Siena since the Middle Ages, its name meaning “strong bread”, and this modern variation takes that celebrated Tuscan tradition in a distinctly more adventurous direction.
Serve in thin slices alongside a strong blue cheese such as Gorgonzola or Stilton. The combination of sweet cherry, dark cocoa and warming chilli makes a particularly striking addition to the Christmas cheeseboard.
