Description

This is part of our Italian Wines Collection.

Pure, aromatic Friulian Sauvignon with sage, stone fruit and a fresh, savoury finish

A bright and expressive Sauvignon Blanc from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, grown in the Romans d’Isonzo area on well-drained gravelly soils. Puiatti avoids oak to preserve the purity of the grape, allowing notes of herbs and ripe stone fruit to remain fresh and precise. Four months on the lees in stainless steel adds gentle texture while keeping the wine focused, aromatic and distinctly Friulian.

Tasting Notes: Fresh aromas of tomato leaf and sage with peach and apricot. Persistent and mouth-filling, with a clean, savoury finish.

Food Pairing: Ideal with seafood, shellfish, fish pasta and risotto, antipasti and fresh, herb-led dishes.

ABV: 12%

Grape Blend: Sauvignon Blanc 100%

Region: Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Founded in 1967, Puiatti has become a leading name in Friuli. Its wines focus on pure varietal expression, fragrance and finesse, with fermentation and maturation deliberately kept away from wood.

ABV: 12

Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Friuli-Venezia Giulia sits in the far northeast of Italy, bordering Austria and Slovenia. It’s not one of the country’s better-known regions, but its food and wine give us plenty of reason to visit.

Flavours and ingredients vary across the region, based on how close you are to Austria, Slovenia or the rest of Italy. So you might find yourself eating Venetian-style seafood, pork and cabbage soups, or ravioli filled with beetroot and mountain herbs.

An ingredient that has travelled far and wide is San Daniele prosciutto, considered Italy’s best alongside Parma ham.

Friuli white wines are amongst the best in Italy, particularly Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Malvasia. The region is also home to a lot of (currently very trendy) orange wine, made with white wine grapes but using the same techniques as for red wine.
