Description

This is part of our Italian Wines Collection.

Aromatic Sardinian white with Mediterranean herbs, almond and a fresh, dry finish

A sunshine-filled Sardinian white led by Vermentino and complemented by the island’s native Nuragus grape. The fruit comes from vineyards across the lower Sulcis, where a Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers and mild winters shapes the wine’s aromatic character. Fermented at cool temperatures and bottled early to preserve freshness, Villa Solais is fragrant, herbal and wonderfully easy to pair with food.

Tasting Notes: Golden and aromatic, with Mediterranean herbs, almond and a fresh, gently savoury finish.

Food Pairing: Excellent with grilled fish, seafood, shellfish, light pasta dishes and vegetable antipasti. We recommend with our Red Mullet Sauce.

ABV: 12.5%

Grape Blend: Vermentino 70%, Nuragus 30%

Region: Sardinia

Cantina Santadi was founded in 1960 as a cooperative in the Sulcis of south-west Sardinia. Its wines celebrate the island’s Mediterranean landscape and native varieties, combining regional tradition with precise modern winemaking.

ABV: 13

Sardinia

The island of Sardinia is separate to the Italian mainland in more ways than the obvious. It only became part of Italy in 1861, and occupiers over the ages have all left their mark on its culture and cuisine.

Bread is a favourite of the islanders, probably more so than in the mainland. There are hundreds of types, each particular to a region or town. As home to 4 million sheep, it’s no surprise that cheese-making is highly prized. Sardinia makes about 80% of Italy’s pecorino, the hard sheep’s milk cheese.

Slow cooking is a particular speciality, with risottos, stews and spit-roasted pork all favourites in a land of shepherds.
